Instructor Spotlight

This month our student spotlight is a little different, we asked one of our previous students-now instructor- to write a little about his life and his journey through IMA to his dream career.

Hi there! I’m Cody! My journey began in high school when I took a high school level fire training program. We got to wear gear, use tools, and do ride alongs with the local fire department. After graduating high school, I became a Resident Volunteer in Oregon. Working a 48-hour shift on an ambulance and fire engine, running 911 calls. After just under a year, I knew this was the career choice for me! I moved back to Idaho and attended the Idaho Medical Academy to obtain my EMT certification. I then began working for the local 911 ambulance system in Ada County to gain experience. While working as an EMT I began assisting and teaching classes at Idaho Medical Academy to help the “next in line”. I’ve loved every step of the way and have developed a true passion for teaching. In the new year, I will be beginning my dream career with my dream department as a Recruit Firefighter for the Boise Fire Department. I am blessed for my past experience and truly thankful for my IMA family!

We are so proud of Cody and his achievements! He has had the opportunity to impact many students that have come through our doors and will continue to do so both here and at Boise Fire. We love to see these stories because we know each student of ours has the potential to accomplish great things and we are so thankful for the opportunity to provide life-changing training for them. Good luck at Boise Fire Cody! We know you will continue to do amazing things and make an impact in our community!
