The Basic IV administration course gives you the conceptual and operational knowledge to place an IV. It supports experienced healthcare professionals with previous venipuncture experience who want to add IV placement to what they already do, and professionals who need refresher training.

Upon completion, you will be able to demonstrate IV and infusion related problems; identify the names and location of the veins most suitable for IVs; demonstrate aseptic technique in the initiation of IV placement; identify methods of infection control related to IV therapy; and identify infusion related complications, their causes, and appropriate management.
The one-day IV class runs only at our Boise campus at 2323 South Vista Avenue, Suite 203, just off I-84. The online component is completed separately, and the in-person day is where you practice vein identification, aseptic technique, and IV placement with instructors.
