The Basic IV administration course is designed to provide basic conceptual and operational knowledge for students to become familiar with the procedure to place an IV. It will not cover fluid therapies or medication administration.

This class supports experienced healthcare professionals with previous venipuncture experience that look to expand their skill set with IV placement techniques or healthcare professionals who need refresher training.

  • Demonstrate IV and infusion related problems
  • Identify the names and location of the veins most suitable for IV’s
  • Demonstrate aseptic technique in the initiation of IV placement
  • Identify methods of infections control related to IV therapy
  • Identify infusion related complications, causes and appropriate management.
