EMS Alumni Spotlight

At Idaho Medical Academy we truly believe we have some of the best students. As some of you may know we started a new campaign called student spotlight where we showcase some of our awesome alumni and all the great things they’ve been up to since graduation. This newsletter we are highlighting one of our EMT students, Traece Rasmussen. While some students come to IMA looking for a career path to spark their interest, some like Traece start their program with goals already in mind. His end dream career was in wild land firefighting along with passion for ski patrol. He applied for both positions and with the help of his EMT certification he became a crew member on a woodland team as well as ski patrol for Bogus Basin.

His year doing ski patrol proved to be very rewarding and out of the six life flight emergencies he was able to assist with four of them giving him a lot of real-world lifesaving situations. With wildland this summer he was the only EMT at his station, and he felt like he was able to offer piece of mind for his team knowing he was trained for emergency situations. He was also recognized by both jobs, one for rookie of the year by Bogus Basin and 1 of 3 firefighters nominated for Firefighter of the Year. Thank you for all your service in the community Traece, we are so proud of all your accomplishments!
