Medical Assistant (MA) Program

Idaho Medical Academy’s Medical Assistant course is designed for students who learn best in a traditional classroom setting paired with an online component. You’ll build back-office (clinical) skills at an accelerated pace compared to most college programs, with one-on-one career exploration through clinical externships with our medical partners across the Treasure Valley.

Job placement is our biggest goal for every student. While we can’t guarantee placement, we provide hands-on clinical outings and direct paths toward employment with healthcare providers throughout Boise, Meridian, Eagle, and the surrounding area. Completing the course also prepares you to sit for a national medical assistant certification exam if you choose to.

★★★★★

I highly recommend this school. Not only do they have excellent instructors, but they have the best hands-on training. They use the best techniques: not only can you study for MA, but they have the accessibility for students to take phlebotomy.

Accreditation and certification: what to know. Idaho Medical Academy is registered as a proprietary school with the Idaho State Board of Education, but Idaho does not license or require state certification for medical assistants, so there is no state-specific MA accreditation to look for. However, our Medical Assistant course is built to prepare you for national certification, and we offer NHA exam testing on-site at our Boise campus. National certification is optional and not required to work as an MA in Idaho, but many Treasure Valley hospitals and clinics prefer or require it, so we structure the course to make sitting for a national exam straightforward if you choose to.

Course Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is required to be eligible under national guidelines. You must be 18 years or older, or 16 with guardian permission. A current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS or CPR certification is required to graduate and included in the course.
