· How It Works

How PALS HeartCode Blended Learning Works

The AHA HeartCode PALS Blended Learning Bundle is perfect for students with previous PALS experience, and reduces the amount of time you’ll need to spend in a classroom without sacrificing learning quality.

Enroll online

Choose from one of several classes offered on Idaho Medical Academy's class calendar, and register. IMA emails your AHA HeartCode PALS access after you enroll so you can start your self-paced learning right away.

Complete the coursework at your own pace

The AHA's video modules and the final exam are done online. Choose what days you'll dive into the material and for how long, and complete the course materials from wherever you learn best. All you need is internet access.

Come in for your skills session

After you complete the online coursework, spend two to four hours at IMA's Boise campus practicing and signing off on PALS skills. Your AHA PALS Provider eCard is delivered by email after you successfully complete the class.

· Who This Class IS For

Who Needs PALS Certification

PALS is written for clinicians who may have to stabilize a sick or injured child. In emergency, intensive care, and pre-hospital roles, it’s a vital skillset to possess, and typically an occupational requirement.

Emergency and ICU staff

Emergency department, intensive care, and critical care personnel whose unit requires current AHA PALS Provider certification.

Physicians and nurses

Clinicians who see pediatric patients and need a current AHA PALS Provider card for employment or credentialing.

Paramedics and EMS crews

Pre-hospital providers who take pediatric calls and are required to obtain and maintain PALS certification due to state licensure or agency requirements.

Providers renewing a card

Already certified? One 2-4 hour visit keeps your certification current. The AHA coursework is included in the bundle, and is finished online beforehand.

· What You'll Learn

What the PALS Class Covers

The PALS Provider Course prepares healthcare providers to recognize and intervene in respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest in children, through high-performance team dynamics and high-quality individual skills. It runs on case scenario practice with simulations rather than lecture alone.

Adult cards are separate: see ACLS for adult advanced life support, or BLS for Healthcare Providers for the CPR card underneath both.
